With the warm Mediterranean waters ranging from 22°C to 28°C in summer, it’s the perfect environment for a comfortable and relaxed diving experience. Dive into the hidden beauty of Crete, where every site offers a new underwater story. From sheltered bays perfect for beginners to deeper walls and rocky outcrops for the more adventurous, Almyrida’s dive sites are full of surprises. Explore natural underwater formations, vibrant reefs, and marine nurseries teeming with life. Spot shimmering schools of fish, octopus tucked in the rocks, lionfish gliding by, and even the occasional sea turtle cruising through. With crystal-clear waters and minimal currents, Almyrida offers both safety and spectacle – making it a top dive destination in Chania, Crete. The Elephant Cave is one of Crete’s most unique dive sites — a submerged cavern near Chania featuring stunning red and white stalactites and fossilised remains of extinct elephants. Inside this partially air-filled cave, divers can explore a surreal underwater landscape while experiencing both geology and history in one unforgettable dive. Located in the stunning Ombros Gialos, Crete’s newest and most exciting dive site is officially coming to life. Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025: The first ship was successfully sunk! This marks a huge milestone in the creation of the Apokoronas Diving Park. October 2024: The 44 reef structures were placed onto the seabed. These artificial reefs were created using advanced technology from the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, offering a safe haven for marine life in Ombros Gialos.
